The MLSA continues to advocate with CBS for the creation of a Landscaping Licence to improve licence clarity for both landscapers and their clients.

Consumer and Business Services (CBS) is a division of the South Australian Government’s Attorney-General’s Department that works to protect consumers and support and regulate business. So, as the regulatory body for licenses in South Australia, attending the Landscape Licensing Workshop with the Commissioner of Consumer and Business Services provides you with a rare opportunity to:

  • seek insight on the licensing process from the Commissioner himself,
  • query the landscape licensing process,
  • seek clarity on licence conditions; and
  • advocate for change!

Under South Australian law, anyone who contracts for landscaping work such as outdoor tiling, paving, building retaining walls or installing water features must hold a current building work contractors’ licence with conditions appropriate to your scope of works.

There are serious repercussions for tradies working without a licence, and there may be unscrupulous clients or third parties interested in leveraging the situation for their own gain.  As such, you must make sure that your licence is valid, up to date, and that you operate within the bounds of your licence conditions.
